Properties:

Hydroxy ethylidene Di phosphonic acid (HEDP) is an organophosphoric acid recognized for its role as a corrosion inhibitor. It effectively chelates with metal ions such as iron (Fe), copper (Cu), and zinc (Zn), forming stable chelating complexes. This compound is capable of dissolving oxidized materials found on the surfaces of these metals. HEDP exhibits outstanding scale and corrosion inhibition performance at temperatures reaching 250℃. Furthermore, it maintains good chemical stability in high pH conditions, showing resistance to hydrolysis and decomposition under typical light and heat exposure. Its tolerance to acid/alkali and chlorine oxidation is superior compared to other organophosphoric acids (salts). HEDP can react with metal ions in water systems to create hexa-element chelating complexes, especially with calcium ions, which enhances its antiscale properties and visible threshold effects. When used in conjunction with other water treatment chemicals, it demonstrates effective synergistic benefits.

In its solid state, HEDP is a crystalline powder, making it ideal for use in winter and cold climates. Its high purity allows it to be utilized as a cleaning agent in the electronics sector and as an additive in everyday chemical products.

Usage:

Hydroxyethylidene Diphosphonic acid (HEDP) is widely utilized as a scale and corrosion inhibitor in systems such as circulating cooling water, oil fields, and low-pressure boilers, particularly in sectors like electric power, chemical production, metallurgy, and fertilizers. In the textile industry, HEDP is employed as a cleaning agent for both metallic and non-metallic materials. Furthermore, in the dyeing industry, it serves as a stabilizer for peroxide compounds and a dye-fixing agent. In non-cyanide electroplating applications, HEDP acts as a chelating agent. The recommended dosages for its use are 1-10 mg/L for scale inhibition, 10-50 mg/L for corrosion inhibition, and 1000-2000 mg/L when used as a detergent. HEDP is often used in conjunction with polycarboxylic acids to enhance its effectiveness.
